The economic crisis has led to a decrease in global market demand. India Tirupur textile exporters are trying to ensure the fiscal balance this year. According to the guarantee from workers, textile enterprises will raise the wages of workers from January 2009.

According to the three party agreement signed by the manufacturers association and the workers' Union and the Ministry of labour in 2006, the basic wage of textile workers will increase by 3% in December 31st this year.

However, the main markets of the two Tirupur knitwear exporters in the United States and Europe suddenly fell into a downturn. Entrepreneurs were planning to cut down workers, and workers were worried about whether their wages would increase.

India Southern knitting enterprise association and A. Sakthivel president of Tirupur Exporters Association said that manufacturers and exporters will honor their promises and workers' wages will be raised according to the agreement signed.

Therefore, the number of workers in the Department of cutting, sewing, ironing and packaging will increase from 110.60 rupees per day to 113.92 rupees.

The wages of workers working in the inspection and supervision department increased from 63.12 rupees per day to 65.01 rupees.

Workers who hand fold and slit trade mark up to 56.95 rupees -58.60 rupees, and now their salaries are 55.30-56.90 rupees.
