   ZARA Selling unsafe children's clothes

From August 1, textile products for infants under 3 years old must meet the highest safety level of Class A. More than a month has passed since the implementation of the new regulations. A reporter visited and found that there are still a large number of non Class A baby clothes on sale, whether in shopping malls or in street foreign trade stores. Many parents and sales staff do not even know there is such a rule.

New regulations: expand the scope of "infant" clothing

On August 1, the new edition of National Textile products The Basic Safety Technical Specification has replaced the 2003 national standard as the new mandatory national standard for textiles. The specification expanded the age range covered by infant textiles, changing the definition of infant clothing products from "textile products worn or used by infants under 24 months of age" to "textile products worn or used by infants under 36 months of age". According to the formaldehyde content, pH value, odor and other indicators, clothing is divided into three safety levels: A, B and C. Infant clothing must meet the requirements of Class A, and the label should indicate "Class A infant clothing".

The new "Code" was originally scheduled to be implemented on August 1 last year, but it was later postponed to give enterprises a certain buffer period. From August 1 this year, the production, sale and import of textile products that do not conform to the National Basic Safety Technical Specifications for Textile Products are prohibited.

Investigation: Non Class A Children's clothing Still on sale

In the children's products area of Yansha Outlets, many brands are carrying out summer clothing discount promotions. The reporter saw on the shelves of well-known brands such as okaidi, cars, and Goodbaby that some of the goods are Class A, but there are not a few of them marked as Class B. In the ZARA store of Chaoyang Joy City, the reporter even saw the children's clothes marked as Class C (see figure). The recommended size of this coat is for children aged 2 to 3 years old. There is no "infant clothing" and other words on the label, but the column of safety category is clearly marked as "Class C".

As for the mixed buying of various safety categories, the sales staff of relevant brands said that some of the clothes currently on sale were produced during the implementation of the old national standards, "there was no clear requirement to remove them from the shelves, and the new ones produced after August 1 should be OK."

However, the situation of children's clothing stores that are common on the street is not so optimistic. Class A infant clothing is rare, and quite a number of goods are not even marked with a safety category. This situation is especially obvious for goods under the banner of "foreign trade". In a clothing store on Jintai Road, several children's clothes checked by the reporter were not marked with safety category. "This is all for foreign trade, and the quality is good." The shop owner tried hard to sell his goods to reporters. "If you touch them, they are all pure cotton, so you can rest assured that they will be worn by children." However, the owner was vague and perfunctory about the implementation of the new national standard, and did not give a clear answer.

Parents: Never paid attention to label information

Gong Dingyu, chief operating officer of Leyou, a well-known pregnancy, baby and child chain enterprise, said that young babies generally have the habit of biting clothes, so the most important thing for children's clothing is reliable materials. However, the reporter found in the interview that not only the merchants perfunctory about the new rules, but also many parents are ignorant of this, and they have never paid attention to this information when buying clothes for their children. "It mainly depends on the style and the quality. You can try your hand and feel very comfortable." In Yansha Outlets, a citizen who is buying clothes for his grandson told the reporter that he did not know the national standards in this regard and did not pay attention to these information. "You should really pay attention later, after all, children's health is the most important."
