Zhejiang Jiaxing Leather Garment Export To High-End Market
"We have increased the export of high-grade sheepskin garments this year. At present, most of our products are exported to the United States, the European Union and Japan, and more than 95% of our customers are foreign direct customers."
Yesterday, in the leather city of Haining, the reporter saw Yu Lifeng, deputy general manager of Zhejiang Samsung Leather Co., Ltd., he told reporters that many export enterprises of leather and clothing have increased the export of high-end clothing to the European and American markets due to factors such as the adjustment of the export tax rebate policy.
The latest statistics of Jiaxing customs also show that in the 1 to September this year, Jiaxing exported 3 million 370 thousand leather garments, of which 2 million 390 thousand were exported to the United States and the European Union, accounting for 71% of the total export volume, up 11% from the same period last year.
"The rising cost is the main driver of the pfer of leather clothing export market in our city."
Customs Statistics experts pointed out that with the gradual loss of price advantage of low-end products, orders began to flow to other developing countries, leather enterprises in our city have moved the export market to the high priced market in Europe and the United States.
"At present, the cost of our products has increased by 25%."
Qian Jinlong, chairman of Zhejiang ohms fur Co., Ltd., told reporters that since the beginning of this year, export leather clothing tax rebate rate reduction, RMB appreciation and raw material prices and other factors led to the rise of leather clothing costs and price increases.
The latest customs statistics also show that the total export volume of leather garments in our city decreased by 6% from 1 to September this year, but the number of high-end leather garments exported to the EU and the United States showed an upward trend, up by 10% over the same period.
"Low end market prices will not go, orders and production will continue to decline, and new markets must be opened up."
In the interview, most enterprises believe that the proportion of high-end leather garments in export products should be increased, and the high-end market in Europe and the United States should be striving to adapt to the new foreign trade situation.
"We can only earn 3 to 5 dollars for exporting a low-grade garment, and 12 to 20 dollars for high-end clothing," he said.
Qian Jinlong thinks exporting to high-end market is a challenge and an opportunity for enterprises.
"At this year's leather clothing exhibition in Las Vegas, the Samsung leather industry has established contacts with dozens of customers at once."
Yu Lifeng told reporters that, like many enterprises, they are constantly improving their technological content and added value, cultivating their own brands and high-end customers.

Customs Statistics experts pointed out that in the long run, the leather garment export market of our city will be more standardized.
The latest statistics also show that in the first 9 months of this year, the export of leather garments in our city accounted for only 220 thousand pieces of processing trade, down nearly 30% compared with the same period last year, while 3 million 150 thousand of the total trade exports accounted for 93.5% of the total export volume.
