ASEAN'S Third Largest Trading Partners

Since the beginning of this year, trade growth between China and ASEAN has accelerated, economic integration has deepened, business ties have been strengthened, and common development has been achieved.

From 1 to April, bilateral trade amounted to US $87 billion 100 million, an increase of 59% over the same period last year.

This is a presentation on the "China ASEAN Free Trade Area SME development forum" held in Kunming in June 6th.

Sun Yuanjiang, deputy director of the international division of China's Ministry of Commerce, said that the China ASEAN free trade area was completed in January 1st this year. China has achieved zero tariffs on more than 91.5% of its imports from ASEAN countries, and the average tariff rate for ASEAN has decreased from 9.8% to 0.1%. ASEAN's 6 old member countries have also achieved zero tariffs on products imported from China, and 4 new member countries of ASEAN will achieve this goal in 2015.

According to the "service trade agreement" and "investment agreement" of the free trade area, the service departments of both sides have further opened up and the investment environment has been greatly improved, which has provided more convenience for the two enterprises to enter the other side market, and has brought a rare business opportunity.

Sun Yuanjiang said that in the bilateral trade volume between China and ASEAN in the first half of April this year, China imported $46 billion 500 million, an increase of 71% over the same period last year, and exports of US $40 billion 600 million, an increase of 46% over the previous year and a deficit of 5 billion 900 million US dollars.

China has risen from the sixth largest trade partner of ASEAN to third major trading partners, and ASEAN has risen from China's fifth largest trading partner to fourth trading partners.
