Japanese telecom giant NTT has invented a new shoe that allows people to walk on the phone while charging for electronic products such as cell phones and iPod.

NTT spokeswoman Xiu Chen Tian man said that the sole of the shoe was connected to a small generator.

The pressure on the soles will cause the generator to generate about 1.2 watts of power when walking on shoes.

He said that as long as he walked around with his shoes on, the power generated was enough to keep the iPod music player operating without interruption.

In addition, the company is trying to figure out how to increase the generating capacity of the generator to 3 watts, which is also the power required by ordinary mobile phones.

Although the shoes don't have storage function, users can connect their phones to their shoes and keep walking, so they can automatically charge and use them directly.

NTT hopes to officially launch this new power generation shoe in 2010.
