"Nong Nong 10" Hybrid Cotton Is Approved By The State.
A new hybrid cotton variety nnong 10, bred by Zhang Tianzhen and Zhu Xiefei of Nanjing Agricultural University, has been approved by the state recently.
"Nong Nong 10" has good resistance to lepidopteran insects such as Helicoverpa armigera and pink bollworm, and is resistant to Fusarium Wilt and Verticillium wilt.
In the regional trials, the yields of cotton, lint and frost lint reached 222.8 kg, 91.4 kg and 73.3 kg respectively, 14.5%, 5.4% and 5.2% higher than that of the control Simian 3, respectively.
Fiber quality is excellent, far better than similar varieties.
The hybrid cotton is expected to become the main cotton varieties in the Yangtze River Basin in the next 3-5 years.
