Putian Shoe Industry Is Developing Rapidly

Nowadays, whether walking into the deep mountains or on the long coastline of Putian, people can feel the hot atmosphere of industrial civilization and appreciate the beating of economic pulse. This is also one of the great changes that took place in Putian's 30th anniversary years of reform and opening up.

At the end of last year, the first production line of Guo Xiusong, a Taiwanese businessman in Putian, invested in the footwear industry was officially put into operation in the Licheng Economic Development Zone in tenth.

3 years ago, the Taiwan funded footwear industry started building more than 50 mu of land, with a total investment of about 50 million yuan, and the total output value reached 150 million yuan.

Shoemaking industry is one of the pillar industries in Putian. In the early 80s of last century, our city took the advantage of geography and human connections to undertake the pfer of Taiwan's shoe making industry as early as possible.

In recent years, the footwear industry in Putian has developed rapidly, adding hundreds of new production lines every year.

Shoemaking industry has become the largest industry in Putian's industrial economy. At present, there are more than 3000 shoemaking factories, of which more than 200 are on the upper scale.

Production of all kinds of sports shoes, leather shoes, casual shoes, rubber shoes, 80% products export.

In mid July of this year, our city was awarded the "China footwear export base" by the China Light Industry Arts and crafts import and Export Chamber of Commerce.

In the early days of reform and opening up, Putian's state owned industrial economy was "one of the largest enterprises". However, in this context, Putian's industrial enterprises presented a large number of factories with dilapidated, aging equipment and redundant personnel.

After 30 years of hard work, the industrial economy of Putian has been successfully pformed. The dominant position of enterprises in the market economy has been established, and various forms of ownership such as state, private, foreign-funded, and shareholding coexist and flourish. Industrial enterprises are entering the fast lane of healthy development.

"In recent years, in particular, in recent years, the development of port industry has been one of the major initiatives to promote economic and social development. A large number of major port projects have been introduced in Putian, and initially formed an energy industry with LNG gas and electricity integration and Meizhou Bay thermal power plant as the leading industry. The paper industry with the pulp and paper integration as the leading industry, the machinery manufacturing industry with the air conditioning and repairing ship as the leading industry, and the Giti tires as the leading petrochemical industry and other industrial clusters have formed the prototype of the port industry which has the characteristics of large scale of investment, strong correlation, high technology content and high added value of products, and strong industrial agglomeration.

According to statistics, in 2007, the total industrial output value of our city reached 72 billion 750 million yuan, an increase of 204.5 times compared with 1978, an average annual increase of 20.2%, an industrial added value of 24 billion 612 million yuan, a total of 48.1% of the city's GDP ratio, and 27.3 percentage points higher than that of 1978.

Industry has become an important force to promote the continuous development of the city's economy.
