Wool Buyers Urge Herdsmen Not To Give Up Sheep.

If Australia's herdsmen continue to abandon sheep due to the Mulesing controversy, the world wool industry will go into chaos, international buyers said.

Concern about the decline in Australian wool production has led international processors to continue to look for herdsmen to raise sheep.

A wool processing group claiming to represent at least 70% of consumers in Australia issued a warning statement: "we are concerned about the continued decline in Australian wool production. Wool is the lifeblood of our business.

We know that many of you are considering cutting back on the number of farms again or all of them. "

The group includes processors from China, Italy and Germany. They asked herdsmen not only to keep sheep who could naturally resist flies, but also to know what they were going to do in 2010.

Their main support is to use pain relief measures immediately in lambs during the Mulesing process.

The Mulesing process is cut off from the wrinkled skin near the buttocks of the sheep to prevent destructive flies from biting.

International pruning wool production has dropped to its lowest level since 1946. This fiscal year has dropped by 1.7% to 398 thousand tons.

The group appealed to retailers to cancel boycott of herders who use pain relief measures and adopt alternative feeding options.
