Uzbekistan Government To Cooperate In Leather Processing

Vietnam - Uzbekistan inter governmental Committee on economic, business and scientific and technological cooperation held its second meeting in Hanoi in August 20th.

The meeting lasted for two days. On the first day, the two sides exchanged information on social and economic development, investment opportunities and the potential of all countries.

The two sides are eager to cooperate in some fields, such as leather processing, shoes production, silk, building materials and daily necessities. On the one hand, they can meet the needs of Uzbekistan and export to third countries on the one hand.

Vietnamese and Uzbekistan officials also discussed cotton production, rice cultivation and sericulture, exchanging experiences and processing techniques after harvest.

They said it is possible to set up oil and gas development teams and establish banking institutions to support cooperation in trade, culture, sports tourism and training.

Officials from the two countries said that the import and export trade between the two countries in 2007 reached US $6 billion, but they were lower than their export potential. The two sides made a blueprint to exchange their investment environment, trade and export information, expand export scale and promote the integration of the two economies.

At present, Vietnam imports cotton, fiber, silk, machinery and equipment, chemical fertilizer from Uzbekistan, and exports seafood, fruits, rice, tea and coffee to this Central Asian country.
